hip hop music in a whole lost its creativity and meaning it once had. Today mainstream hip hop is pure commercial and materialistic, even underground hip hop which wasnt hit that hard doesnt seem to have the fire it used to. The rate at which things are going, it dont look to good for rap. Before it took skill to be a good emcee, now it just takes a record deal and catchy phrases that will get 12 year olds to buy your albums. In the 90's even booty songs like ice cream were dropping ILL verseses, today you dont even see worthwhile bars period.

bob isnt sure hip hop was able to survive its earliest years, but these are definatly the worst it has ever seen and proboly will ever see. bob says there still is a chance to survive.

hip hop culture on the other hand, is kind of soso cause emceeing and djing aka hip hop music is barley clinging to life, but the art and breaking is still like it was back in the day.

Well, did boy bands stay? I believe music genres are just fads of a certain generation and that later generations will like their own type of music, but who knows.

The music will always survive in one form or another, however it will definitely lose it's mainstream popularity. In fact it is already happening as hip hop and R&B album sales are down significantly.
