You can't. That's paradox, and every time traveller knows, you cannot create a paradox

You would get hit by the God Factor. the God Factor is the idea that if a certain thing is meant to happen, it will. It may not happen the way you like or when you wish, but it will happen. So, if you are stupid enough to go back and destroy your own time machine, eventually someone who is not that stupid will build another one. The God Factor theory challenges both evolution and Intelligent Design. It challenges evolution in the sense that it assumes that things have already been planned. It is not a natural progression. It challenges Intelligent Design because it assumes that the built-in programming is the result of the fact that billions of different tings can only react with each other in X number of different ways over time. So, while everything will eventually work out right, the sequences and combinations of events are not predictable or logical.

History is history and it can not be changed. If the day comes that you can build a time machine to return to the past, that event and anything you do in the past has already been factored into the history. As a boy I remember reading a Superboy comic where he goes back in time to stop Lincoln's assasination. Of course, he failed. The moral is that story: history is history, and his failure was already built into the outcome. On that note, if you have an up and running machine ... there are a few things I would like to tell that ***** who was my 5th grade teacher, so sign me up!

Your time machine does not travel anywhere .It does not move. When you are in your machine and start the process of time reversal you are in another dimension.Say you go back 10 thousand years ,you will see what is was like back then. You cannot physically step out of your machine because you are not really there .You are only seeing the past from your machine .

You have just discovered one of the almost infinite reasons time travel belongs in SciFi books and films - and not in reality.
Even worse, what if you traveled back in time and killed your great grandfather? Your grandfather, thus your father, and hence, you, would not exist - and if you don't exist - well, you get the picture - how could you have built a time machine if you don't exist?
It's still fun to think about time travel and it makes for some very entertaining books and movies.

I think that version of you would cease to exist. They’re two theories on time travel, and I heard that someone actually provide that you actually could do it.
But were you visited by a future self, and he told you not to build the time machine you were planning on building?

Sounds to me like you and a pile of time machine parts would be stuck back at the beginning with slightly younger you!

your past self would not be able to go back in time, and if he didnt build the machine, you wouldnt exist in the past and therefore either disappear into your own time, or something much worse would happen..

A more pressing question is who you would encounter when meeting yourself. How could you do that without having the memory of meeting yourself already before you ever left the future to return?
