Ok, I have this friend and we have been friends forever it seems like. Lately though she has been hanging out with some people i believe/ know smoke. I am really worried about her and I don't want her to turn into a pothead if she hasn't already. I also want to help her but I want her to not get mad at me. I'm an 8th grader and I just need some advice to help her, is there anything i can do, im really worried

Talk to her parents about it. The friend may fell you betrayed them and hate you for awhile, but later will know that you were the "real" friend who cared enough about them to risk your friendship. I graduated in the 1980's, had one friend who tried to get everyone hooked on pot, etc...although I came out ok, a few dropped out of school, and her boyfriend, who was a football player and band member, winded up in a state mental hospital because he became an addict. It was very sad, and if you do really care about your friend, going to your parent or there's is the kindest, most caring thing you could do for them. Don't worry about their being mad at you, because they will be....just a part of getting unhooked.

all you can do is talk to her. tell her how you feel about it all.
if she still insists on smoking then you can't do any thing else.
telling her family will only cause friction.. let her decide and you should make a new friend..
