I also dont have my Rubik's cube on me but i will tell you the basics for a beginner method.
first you start off by making a cross on one side then filling in the missing edges while making sure that the first layer is done with all the pieces in their direct places. then you move one the the second layer edge pieces using certain algorithms. After that your second layer is done and you proceed to go to the top instead of the third layer. After the top layer is done using a variety of methods you then move to the third layer and after that your cube will be done. i cant get into further detail because you wouldn't truly understand without pictures. I would recommend going to the site I'm gonna put in my sources.

sorry, i dont have my cube right next to me but i can tell you you start with one side, then do the middle layer then the bottom center peices, then the edges on the bottom.

Take it apart and put it back together. Maybe even oil it with vegetable oil while you're at it.
