I'd think Civil engineer= roads and commodes

to build an airplane I'd want to hire an Aeronautical engineer.

you would be going to college for a long time after Air Force.

I am a not big Air Force supporter, I think that is the branch for wimps but nonetheless, I believe that if you want to design and actually understand what those planes actually do, I would say join. If all you care is about the money, do not bother, but once again, if you want to design something that the aircrew would really appreciate, then join and then go to college to get the academics.

The air force will most likely support you through college to do your studies but you will need to do some level of academic study in order to qualify as an engineer. Check out the Raes, IEEE or Institute of Civil Engineering websites in order to check what you will need to qualify or ask at your local airforce recruitment office about careers and such.

i think you will have to finish college to have a job as an engineer. mechanics might help build planes at boeing without much college. engineers usually design the airplanes. someone else builds them.

and i think it is usually aerospace engineers that design planes.
