buy a game from the Chessmaster series (9 or 10). These will teach you from the ground up and help you build a solid foundation for your game. Also, stick to the 4 basic chess principles of: development (developing your pieces), centralization (controlling the center), king safety, and lack of your opponents king safety. Take it slow and have fun with it.

Try going to a book store and see if they have any books on how to improve your chess moves and technique. or try and play it on the internet (yahoo games).

Buy any computer game and play it on easy several time until you find yourself wiping it out all the time. Then move to the next level and so on. Stay away from online sites that you can play against people since A LOT of them use a cheater program that tells them where to move to win.......no fun

To improve your technique what you should do is bring all your important peices on to the field to set up traps. So the opponent has less places to move and will easily get confused.
