It's probable that they would in fact *not* be killing each other off. (Or, if they did, it would still only be a part of ritual tribal warfare. Big deal. Europeans - particularly the British and French - killed each other off for idiotic reasons for centuries and centuries. We act like Europeans never killed or grotesquely tortured each other.) Much of the conflict going on in Africa today has its roots in European colonization. Europeans started the slave trade. (What kind of a human being could look at someone of a different skin color and actually try to *rationalize* slavery by saying this human is not a human? It's truly sick and absurd, when you think about it.) We colonized their countries so we could take advantage of their natural resources. We still take all their diamonds and oil today; somehow, though the diamonds and oil *belong* to Africans, Africans are destitute while Europeans and Americans profit. Doesn't add up. Europe and America still play a large part in arming rebel factions in countries where bloodshed continues to occur. (See the early-'90s Rwandan genocide. In addition to being armed by Europe, the power inequalities that started the fighting in the first place were established by the Belgians. Belgians put one minority tribe - the Tutsis - in power because they liked the way they looked. When the Belgians granted Rwanda its freedom, the majority Hutu tribe moved to take power. The Tutsis, angry after having been told by Belgians for years that they should be in power, rebelled against the new government.)

Today, many African governments are run by Islamic leaders. Africa was not "traditionally" Islamic; Muslims colonized the country in the same way as whites. It baffles me that people today can even still *wonder* why Africa is so f'd up. A large part of the reason is quite plainly because various white Christians have been exploiting, enslaving, and generally treating Africans like s.hit for the past 400 years.

Lies that abound on here---First of all Coonetta---Please Get Out of BLACK FACE!!!!!!!!!!! That is Ugly and unacceptable! I am definately reporting you because you are not even black and you are trying to make black people look bad--I can smell an imposter from far away!!!!!!! UGH! Africa would not be the way it is if it weren't for colonialism...hmmmmm....who were the originators of colonialism. But that was the past and now we are in the present, so instead of blaming we must forge ahead. Organizations like the Peace Corp, United Nations and World Bank and people like Oprah, Angelina Jolie, etc are trying to help Africa and we should all do the same instead of pointing fingers. UGH--sometimes the questions we ask-bring the ugly out of people, I swear!

Well, I guess some of the diseases from both countries never would have been exhanged. And the Europeans certainly had an affect on the lifestyle over there.

There is a theory floating around that the world would be so much a better place if the Trans-Atlantic slave trade had not taken place; according to that the trade somehow led to other events. And I guarantee there would be no AIDS at all if Europeans hadn't set foot on that continent

if David attenborough has taught me anything, the first humans originated in Africa, so Europeans came from Africa, not the other way around

It would still be a vast land of wildlife, with warring tribes migrating and destroying each other as it was before Europeans arrived.

The Arabians would dominate Africa instead (Various Arabian Empires have controlled parts of Africa since time immemorial).
