I try to empower them instead of over power them. Mine are 12 and I have had to lessen the hold a little bit but they know they can come and talk to me about anything. All their friends freak out because I know everything that goes on because my girls tell me. So far, I am proud of how my girls have behaved when I am not around and they have made some good decisions.

Because of circumstances with my oldest daughter's dad, I've been very overprotective of her in particular. I'm trying to get away from that, though, and let them experience some things for themself because that's what they really have to do to learn and understand as they grow.

both.it's my job as a mother to protect my young no matter the cost.but I also listen to her to make sure her needs are being met.

i like to know what my kid wants and if i dont like it they dont do it, so maybe a little bit of both
