She didn't do it on purpose. I'm obsessed with stars so for Christmas she bought me these really cute star earrings from Hot Topic but their earrings are too cheap for my ears. She didn't know...

paint the part that touches your ears with clear nail polish. That should form a barrier from the metal that irritates your ears.

Hi

Ive had this happen to me and I have a good way round it.

If there are hook type earrins... you can buy packs of hooks on ebay - buy them in the metal you can wear - sterling silver or 9ct gold etc and then take off the hooks on those earrings and replace with these ones she will never know and then you can wear them!

You could even take the hooks off a pair you can wear and fix them to the ones she bought you.

I find tweezers are good for taking the hooks off and putting new ones on.

Hope this helps you out!! I do it all the time its a cheaper way of buying expensive earrings that I can wear. Buy cheap ones and change the bit that goes in your actual ear to expensive hooks.

X

They irritate your ears because of the nickel content. Paint the posts with a good clear nail polish and then you should be able to wear them. If the back of the star itself irritates you, paint that too.

Just tell her the truth, that way you dont have to keep covering everything up. Its no big deal. I promise if she is a close friend she won't be upset, she will probably laugh and say sorry. You wouldn't want her to lie to you, or wear earring that hurt her ears.

they probably wouldnt irritate your ears if you wore them for a short amount of time so wear them for when you know you will see your friend but it wont be an all day thing so you can take them off before they start to infect your ears. just soak them in peroxide before you wear them.

throw them away. If she mentions you not wearing them tell her they irritated your ears. That's enough. Do no answer if she starts grilling you about it. Just ask her. lets just drop it OK And go on to something else.

you should have told her your ears were sensative in the first place. i don't think you should throw them away, keep then after a while most ears lose their sensitity and then you can wear them, dependin on how senstive they are maybe you could wear them for one day when you guys are together then she would know you like them

I used to do two things... one paint them with nail Polish that was a gold/silver color so when my friends borrowed them they didn't know... and two when I wore them I first dipped it in antibiotic salve... Or what my mom did was take her earrings to the jewelers and have him/her dip the backing in silver or gold....

Good luck

Paint them with clear finger nail polish and wear them once in a while

Use them as 'push pins' for your 'bulletin board' ... even if you have to 'glue them' to real push pins. These were 'gifts from a close friend' in 'your style' so you want to 'keep them' to remember HER ... and I make 'push pins' out of little things that I want to keep as 'memorabilia' all the time.
