It sounds so strange these days. My granny also says "By Jove, I think she's got it!"

I'm well aware of Jiminy Cricket. That's not what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about the expression, "Jiminy Christmas", which avoids taking the Lord's name in vain.

"By Jove, I think she's got it" comes from the musical My Fair Lady. Jove is a contraction of Jehovah, I think.
I've never heard anybody say Jiminy Christmas, but Jiminy Cricket is a polite way of saying Jesus Christ. Just like saying gosh or golly for God, or saying darn for damn.
