That is your body reacting to something that is known as delayed gratification, which is something that your body gears itself for and when that gratification is not immediately fulfilled you start getting anxious. These symptoms can occur whether the situation is good or bad.
If you can "trick" yourself into not thinking of the event as important or relevant, time would probably go by quicker for you. Of course occupying your time doing something else would help too.

Hi,
I think it's because when we are really excited or expectant, we tend to think about it a lot. We say things (to our self) like "Oh, I can't wait". That in itself says something! Or, when, when will this special thing ever happen, come true, (?)etc. We are filled with anticipation. HOWEVER, when we are at the dentist office, we STOP THINKING! We hear the drill and pick up a magazine, immediately!! And way too soon, we hear our name called! When we have an appointment and we are late, the time flies! We are so rushed, stumbling over ourselves, everything that can go wrong goes wrong, etc.!! The time seems to be eaten up with mis-takes! And it often is! This is my theory...I hope it gives food for thought. One more afterthought...it would be interesting to watch a little more closely during these times, just to see...do we have any control in this area? Oh, and it's possible we can "speed things up" by staying occupied with interesting/fun things and watch those...'if only', when!!, hoping, wishing, dreaming, etc. kinds of things!

most of the time you are very anxious(sp?) and cant wait for it to come. so i would do something that keeps you busy. for example: Watch TV, computer, dance, etc. If you do any of those your mind will be off of what you are waiting for and it will be there before you know it.
hope that helped =)
