If you are talking about democracy and freedom from corruption, then a study about 10 years ago showed that New Zealand and Denmark share first place. Ireland was 8th, I think: we have the most democratic election system, but suffer from a fair bit of corruption in high places which knocked us off the top spot.
Last on the list was Myanmar. Second last was Saudi Arabia (because 50% of the population are given minimum rights) and third last on the list was Taliban-controlled Afghanistan before the Americans invaded it. It was interesting that the Americans got help from the second least democratic country in the world to introduce democracy into Afghanistan.

Whatever country I happen to be in at the time of the question being asked is the best country in the world.
Or, if that does not help you, it depends.
Do you think a democracy is better, or a dictatorship?
Do you think its better to beable for people to drive at 16, or 18?
What country is best depends on your own personal view, and before answering the question yourself you must look at every aspect of it including laws, goverment, population, ect ect ect.

Most of these index lifestyle things often come up with Scandinavian countries. This one brings up Norway but as their pastimes include whale hunting my personal vote goes to Sweden.

Here, the question is not clear i e in which reference you want to know the uniqueness of the country. If you want to know in term of number of crimes being committed, or deadly weapons being manufactured and stored or power to chide other countries , then it is definitely USA. But, if you want to know the country which is always trying to spread love and affection, reducing tensions amongst the countries and sharing human values and good will of the people, then it is undoubtedly India.

I would have thought all gangsters would be (street)-wise to the each-to-his-own-factor and the fact that each will vote for one's own country - dare I say homo or homologous choice? Maybe not in view of the "street-wise" so often being street- unwise.
As for the Americans - having lived there and still being married to one -they are brainwashed from a very early age and so can't really help themselves (and we all worried about Russia!!) - witness Bush with his fist on his heart (well.....heart region - not actuallly near his boots if we must be realistic) - so what else do you expect these homogenously-thinking but multiple-migratory people?!
As always -each to his own - particularly when far away from home.

Speaking as a New Zealander I'd say Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland or Iceland, but that's just my opinion, based on their civilised lifestyle and contributions to science.

In what sense? If you are talking about welcoming to new immigrants and asylum seekers then clearly, UK is number 01 because it gives everything to them even if the citizens have to suffer!!
If you are talking in terms of military might, then clearly USA is top but they have not been tested against China, Russia or even India!! The only thing they have done is bomb some huts and sheds in Afghanistan or Iraq. They haven't tried these tactics against Iran yet!!
Hope this helps.
