A friend and I were having a discussion, and she told me about something that people can do to actually freeze their own bodies...like they would do a peiece of meat...to slow down aging dramatically...and she said that when the person wakes up...in how many years he or she wants to be be awaken...they will have every memory...not be retarded like people that have been in comas for a long period of time..and stuff, she also said that there's not many people in this state, and that you have to pay millions to have it done at the moment, Anyone know what this is called? I would like to research on it more.

It would help even more if you added a link with some interesting information.

Thanx

The freezing process that you have just described is experimental. There haven't (to my knowledge) been any successful trials done on humans. Animals have been frozen and thawed with varied degrees of success. It seems the simpler the animal, the easier it is. Fish can be frozen and thawed without much difficulty. Advanced primates is a different subject. I know that there are individuals who have done this because they were rich and dying anyway. There is, I'm sure, research going on about this. I doubt that they can use humans (legally). I know that there have been problems in both the freezing and thawing process. One problem is to stop the bursting of the cell walls during freezing and there are questions about what is the optimal temperature for thawing. I do believe that the lower the temperature, the slower the activity but I don't know if memory is affected. It's called cryogenics.

I believe thats called cryopreservation...but its more for the preservation of smaller life forms like plants or rodents than human bodies.
