i looked it up and one website said sister and the other said ex wife.. i was also watching celebrity death match and they were making fun of how no body knows what relationship they have with each other

Fellow band-member Meg White is his ex-wife, not his sister, as is commonly supposed. They were married in 1996 in South Lyon, and Jack adopted his wife's last name. The "error" of their sibling-hood is perpetuated by the band itself, for unknown motive, perhaps as a publicity stunt of some manner. But a marriage certificate exists -- Entertainment Weekly printed it. Births seven months apart are also difficult to explain biologically.

She is his ex-wife. When they first became popular, they told everyone they were brother and sister so that in interviews they wouldn't always be asked if it's weird to be in a band with your ex spouse, and so the media wouldn't always focus on that. Guess it backfired.
