If its an Ipod you will need to go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/ to download ITunes. Its the program that will allow you to load songs out to it. When you get your Ipod hook it up to the charger (it will be white and plug into the USB port on your computer) and let it charge for about 12 to 24 hours. For some reason they come without charge and thats what the instructions say to do so it will charge properly in the future. After all that is done, you will drag your music into the "Music" section of ITunes song by song or by a group at a time if you like. The name of your Ipod will show up somewhere underneath Music (you get to name it yourself) and then you will take music from the Music Library and drag it onto the name of your IPod on the list. It will show as updating at the top. Hit the eject button and your good to go! Your instruction manual will tell you the other little nuances you need to know! Good Luck!
