Circumcision is the removal of the foreskin in males and of parts of the external genitalia in females. Both are forms of genital mutilation but western culture accepts male circumcision for dubious reasons. No medical authority in the world recommends routine male infant circumcision anymore as the risks at least balance the much disputed-benefits.
In infant male circumcision the procedure is often performed with no anaesthetic (especially in the USA). The baby is straped to a circumstraint with velcro straps. The penis forms as one organ and at birth the foreskin is tightly fused to the glans. There is nowhere for dirt and germs to collect at this stage of life. So the circumcisor rips the foreskin away from the glans with forceps before slipping a protective plastibell over the glans and either cutting it away or removing it with clamps. Many babies go into deep shock during this process. The baby is then left with a raw wound and raw glans that is stung constantly every time urine is passed. Commonly the raw edges of foreskin can fuse to the raw glans while healing, creating skin bridges that are not noticed till much later in life.
Male circumcision removes over half the skin of the penis (about 15 square inches in an adult) and it's not just simple skin. It's packed with nerve endings, special anatomical features like the ridged band and has a unique elastic gliding action, allowing it to slide on itself and act like lube. This action is what most males use to masturbate with except those who are cut so tightly that they have to use lube or just rub it dry. Of course the intact male has the option to use lube too if he wants to. During intercourse it acts like lube on entry and may act as a dam, preventing lubricating secretions escaping from the vagina. In one study women reported that sex with an intact partner was gentler and more satisfying since he doesn't have to thrust as hard to feel enough stimulation. Removing the foreskin turns the surface of the glans from an inner mucosal membrane to outside skin. Newly circumcised adults usually go through some weeks of intense discomfort as the glans is constantly exposed to rubbing on clothing, until it develops a thicker keratin layer and becomes less sensitive. A new study has shown real differences in fine touch sensitivity between circumcised and intact penises and that the most sensitive parts of the intact penis are those that would be removed by circumcision.

It means removal of the foreskin, it is a barbaric practice that is still practiced in the US. Female circumcision is illegal here male circumcision at birth should be too. What really pisses me off is that medicaid in many states pay for it, my tax dollars should never go to mutilate someone!
