Right now over a two year period he is just as good.

Pujols first two years 71 hr's 257 rbi's
Howard first two years 80 hr's 212 rbi's in a lot less games played. ( Howard played 19 games in 2004 which I did not count. )

It will be hard for Howard to match Pujols year for year but I guess we will see if he can.

I doubt it seriously. Albert's plate discipline and ability to put the ball in play gives him the edge. He just doesn't strike out! Howard is awesome in his own right. Albert is also a Gold Glove-caliber 1B, and is a more than adequate OF, while I don't think any of us want to watch Howard in the OF. I think Howard has more raw power, which a lot of today's fans like more, but for a baseball purist, watching Pujols is a thing of joy. Good question.

Ryan Howard is a very strong offensive player that plays in a hitters ballpark. Pujols is a very balanced and productive hitter. With Pujols you are almost guarenteed .320-40-130, with gold glove defense and an occasional stolen base. Howard is a great power hitter who I believe may become more of an average hitter as he progresses. His defense will not make it to Pujols level and as he ages I could see Howard putting on some more wight and losing even more of what defensive skills he has.

Ryan Howard strikes is a nice player, Albert Pujols is better. Better all around player, he won a gold glove, he almost NEVER strikes out. Howard has some work cut out for him, more then just one year

I don't think so. The way Albert Pujols plays is unbelievable. He won a gold glove. He missed almost a month and he still put up almost as many HRs as Howard.

At this point it is hard to tell, as it is still early on in both their baseball lives. With that said Pujols is off to such an amazing start that he would have to have 2-3 bad years to come back to earth as his career start is record breaking. Ryan may be as good but probably not better.

Albert Pujols will be in the Hall of Fame if he remains healthy and will put up better numbers than any first baseman that ever lived. Go Albert!!

ryan howard is good, and will get alot better, but he will never be as good as albert.. albert should have gotten the mvp last year, everyone was saying that ryan howard had more home runs and rbi's but no one ever thought of the fact that albert did have a better batting average, and he was hurt for a month, if albert isnt hurt that month they albert leads league in home runs and rbi's
