for all 3 prequels the screenplay was not well written; they have the worst lines ever: "anakin you're breaking my heart"
even the brilliant acting of Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman could not save the movie from Hayden's horrible voice.
it also didnt have the original magic, episode 4-6 had; the original heart.
the originals relied more on storytelling and plot and the prequels are all graphics and show.
it seemed like a good story when George Lucas told it before he made the prequels but it seems he didnt have enough material to fit into three feature length movies, so the prequels seem to drag on, even though i will admit they have some good battle scenes but no good lightsaber battles, even the Darth Maul brawl was a bit dull.
the clone wars series that showed on Cartoon Network was way better than any of the prequels combined

Here ya go, there was a lot of complaining about this one, because of the mushy parts. Yeah, there were a few parts on the original that were mushy, but never for more than a few minutes. This one was jam packed with it. Hey, I am a girl and I liked it. It had to be this was though. Without the storyline being wrapped up in a love affair, you would never figure out Why Anakin turned bad. The graphics were good, and the acting was fine, people just didn't want all of the kissing, hugging, and mushy parts.

It was bad because Lucas directed it. Seriously. The first Star Wars was a fun kid ride and I absolutely loved it. "Empire" was more serious, so Irwin Kirshner--familiar with serious movies--directed it and gave it the depth needed. George Lucas believed 16 years of his own hype and directed a movie he had no business doing. Light blockbusters--fine, but "Attack of the Clones" required someone with different abilities. I was born in 1975 and worshipped the original movies as a kid. I sincerely believe that the prequels would have been much better if Lucas had writen the stories, but let someone else direct.
