The actual odor of the ferret is not strong at all, especially if you do not give your ferrets baths. Bathing ferrets actually stimulates secretions which cause "odor".

The odor that people usually think of or smell when owning a ferret is their bedding, litter, and waste. If you do not regularly change their bedding and litter as well as dispose of their waste your house is going to smell. Just the same as if you owned a cat and did not clean up after them properly.

Here is a good rule of thumb: Change bedding and litter every 2-3 days. Scoop the litter box and dispose of waste 2 TIMES A DAY! This is the only way to reduce or even eliminate odor.

If you find that the above is just not working for you try all natural or at least pet safe deodorizers and air fresheners.

FYI: Odors can also linger on the actual ferret cage itself. Cleaning out the whole cage with nice hot soapy water, once a week, should keep things good-to-go.

Change her box everyday and use baking soda to help with the smell. Ferrets have a natural musk that is unfortunately just a part of their nature. Bathe her regularly and keep her cage clean and the smell should diminish.

They need to be be "de-scented", basically have certain scent glands removed just like skunks. Contact a qualified veterinarian who is experienced with ferret care to help you.

Ferrets have a gland that produces the scent of pee. You can take him/her to the vet and have the gland removed to make them less smelly.

i personally don't think they smell that bad.
but there are ways of making them smell less bad, like:
1. stuff you put in there water, it makes them smell better (3-5 pumps a day in their water)

2. ferret deoderizer (spray a spritz everyday)

3. descent them (they usually are already when you buy them)

also changing their litter box daily or twice daily can help cut down on the smell.
there are other ways also, you just have to research it, and search your local pet stores.
those are the 3 things i use for my ferret

You can have a veterinarian remove the scent gland at the same time they're also spaying or neutering -- which is something you should have done.

Oh man! You just bought me back to when I met my Indian princess. I remember when we first met, I haven't bathed in 2months! All I remember being asleep and dreaming that I was going down Niagara falls, only to awaken to her hosing me down with the garden hose! Man, I thought I'd drown! anyway, after that I was able to go with her anywhere!
