Well, Deathnote is a pretty mature anime but it has no humour in it :P Its a suspense anime. It has the ocassional swearing, but its pretty dark for some people. The first couple episodes arent that good, its later on when the action start and the edge-of-your-seat feeling kicks in.

while inyuyasha and fist of the north star, along with others, are cool, try looking for LA blue girl, urotsukidoji, or the devil lady series. for a people known for politeness, there sure is some pretty messed up stuff coming from there. nice!
