I've been lucky -- I've been exposed to so many people in so many jobs that I don't do this. I've seen intelligence and competence vary widely in all occupations -- ESPECIALLY in my own field (software engineering) and ESPECIALLY in the medical and psychological fields (very disappointed that doctors aren't questioned and assessed more by their patients). Career and job choice are bullsh_t -- it means nothing. Formal education is another silly area where assumptions are made -- my best friend has a genius-level IQ, never went to college, works as a $18/hour tradesman, and educates himself informally by strong interest in almost anything. I've managed teams of people with PhDs -- some were very good, others weren't. I've long since given up the presumption of intelligence, competence, and anything else related to job title or education level. And I can honestly say this is true.

Well, at first look i'm pretty sure a lot of people do.

But i'm also sure most people could do any jobs, just they'd have different difficulties coping with it.

And for E.g Computer programmer + Nurse

Yeah, a nurse has to have a somewhat good with biology.
A computer programmer has to know a language that applies to there needs e.g C++/HTML etc

A nurse could become a Computer programmer and vice versa. It's just how much time you want to spend doing + Preparing... So in the long run, I Wouldn't really tbh.

I try not to but when I go to McDonald's, which isn't often, I ALWAYS seem to get the person who isn't the brightest crayon in the box :( I try not to judge but sometimes they just mess up so many times I feel like I should just go back there and do it myself... I'm stop going now but I'd just get so frustrated and I don't want to offend anyone who works at a restaurant b/c they are very smart and helpful, as well as janitors... these are people who work to make our lives simpler, and I know a lot of people who are looked down on but they are some of the smartest people I know :o)

I think that is a pretty widespread practice. I used to do that until I started working very closely with medical doctors. It was then that I realized that no matter how much formal education you have, you can still be a fool. No matter how much money you make, you can still be cold and heartless (in fact maybe more so). I think that some of the most decent, loyal and honest people, are those who work blue collar jobs. Many of those rich people with the hotsy totsy jobs are shallow and disrespectful.

I find myself doing that on occasion. I really ought to know better; I'm one of those people who score very high on tests but I've bagged groceries and cleaned offices and packaged potato chips.
There are some jobs that may not require a genius but it helps to have more intelligence than average. I can't imagine ever saying that a biochemist is dumb, except perhaps in reference to relationships where we can all be stupid.

In my opinion Life is a 'crap-shoot'; many people get jobs, not based on their I.Q., but because they hit the job-hunting jackpot. Some days it's just a matter of luck, pure & simple.
Incidentally, no I don't judge people's intelligence by their employment.

Holy crap, no way! Some of the biggest idiots I know are GM's and there is one CEO that springs to mind as well!

Some of the smartest people I know don't even have a university degree and alot of people in mensa have very little formal education. Intellect, to some extent is a gift, it is what you do with the amount you are given, that truly marks your intelligence.

I bet you judge!, you are judging here the answers, liar!.

and I don't stereotype people from the career because they might not be successful at what they do, but if they are successful at it, then yeah, I assume they are smart.

I think to a degree we all do. It takes a certain amount of intelligence to do different jobs, some require more than others. From there its only determined on an individual basis.
