I am 40 weeks pregnant and I am so ready to give birth, does anyone know any remedies or ideas to make this happen a little faster? I heard of castor oil, but thats just gross and makes u poop alot while you are in labor.

I've been preggo 3 times, and I've tried pretty much everything there is to try and NOTHING has ever worked, but I'll give you a list of the things I can think of, of course I'm not a Dr. and you shouldn't do any of things without your Dr.'s consent (my own little disclaimer! :) )

Castor Oil- 4TB. mixed with Orange Juice, or a Choclate Milkshake. Some reports that this causes the baby to have a bowel movement in the uterus, so be careful with this one.
Sex- Semen contains prostaglandins which help ripen the cervix. Orgasms can stimulate contractions.
A Single Glass of wine- May relax you enough to start labor
Driving down a bumpy road-
Pineapple- May contain chemicals or enzymes that help start labor
Spicy Food- Stimulates bowels which in turn can stimulate uterine contractions (similar to the Castor Oil)
Enemas- Same as above (Never tried this one :) )
Eggplant- Not sure, but I've heard this one before
Labor Salad- Not kidding, Google it, never worked for me
Cumin Seed or Cumin Seed Tea-
Evening Primrose Oil- Helps ripen the cervix, supposed to take them vaginally and orally (2 each) starting around 38 weeks
Blue/Black Cohosh- Powerful herbs Native Americans used to help induce labor, there have been reports of infants born with problems like heart failure and stroke, so educate yourself on this one.
Hot Baths
Red Raspberry Leaf Tea
Green Tea
Nipple Stimulation- Stimulates the uterus to contract. Various methods can be found online
Walking- Puts pressure on cervix
Excercising- Climbing up/down stairs, bouncing on a big ball, doing squats, swimming
4-Wheeling- Same as bumpy roads I'm assuming just rougher

Those are all I can think of, Hope this helps, GOOD LUCK

I went decrease back to eating some gingerale and eating saltines contained in the am like I did my first 4 months of being pregnant. helps a sprint. we are very almost there!!! Congrats, and superb desires to you and toddler.
