How do i stop my ipod nano from skipping songs?

like wen i click on a song the number wherre it says 1of 289 or w/e...... it changes fast like 1 2 3 4
and wont play any songs
do u kno how to fix it???....
if you do can u tell me or send a link that would help.....

Could be an encoding error on the MP3, WAVe or whatever format you're playing. My recommendation would be to format the thing, of course, hopefully you have all the music still left in your HD, you should never move your music to a portable mp3 player. After formatting it, if it still happens, then you know that it's an encoding error. If you try to play that same song in your computer, but nothing happens, that means that it's your Nano that has a bad decoder. Don't know too much about Apple's, but they have good support, at least they are known for that, and maybe they might have a firmware fix for your problem.
