NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! why would you even dare to let the other team get a breather and set a defensive play??? that just shows how many people WATCH basketball on here...*sigh* you attack fast and more likely you'll get a better shot w/o the timeout!

I think it depends on if it is college or pro. In the pros you get the ball at halfcourt but in college you dont get the ball at half court. So if it were after a made shot by the opposing team, and it were in college, I think you get the ball inbounds and to your best player that can create because 6.4 seconds is long enough. If you call timeout it is tough to draw a play designed to go the length of the court and plus you let the defense set up rather than inbounding quickly after a basket and catching the defense getting back. I think that you will get a better shot on that and possible a foul. In the NBA definitely call a timeout.

To play the devils' advocate I will say no. If you call a timeout to set up your offense then you let them set up their defense. If you just pass the ball in and run you can catch them (expecting a timeout) off guard and more likely catch a more open look. Expecially if you are playing a team like OSU, if you call a timeout you give slow Oden a chance to get down the court. 5v4 is much better tan 5v5. Regardless, you are more likely to get a more ideal shot if both teams are running down the court, unprepared, and not set up.

Also, alot of teams practice for that exact situation in case you do not have a timeout. So the coach can just yell out a play.

I would get it past half court and try to draw a foul until the clock is at 3 seconds. If no foul by then, call a time out and set up a quick play to ensure my team indeed gets the very last shot.

Well it depends on ur team if you have an excperienced team its better to just run the ball up because the other team is cuaght off guard and the other team didnt have time to step anything up either. However with an inexperienced team you need to call time to set up a play and try to easy their nerves

I would call a timeout. I would talk it over with my team and set up a play for my best player.

Well it depends if you have a clutch player or a player you can depend on, and is not stupid no,because if you call a time out then you will give the opponent time to set there defense, but if you have no one that is what i described i would definitly call a time out.

yeah but call up a 20 second one, not a full timeout
that way the defense does not have enough time to set up fully, and you can quickly decide who is going to take the shot, and from where.

Yes, why wouldnt you want to set up a play instead of having your players try to scrape something together on there own.

Yes, so your players will be on the same page on the play.
