Then why are they used in 10 different Olympic sporting events? Judging by this, it would appear that they are no more than tools used in sports, no different from baseball bats or golf clubs, (hmm...those are also used as weapons). Maybe we should ban all sports that use equipment such as these to stop violence, leaving only sports where your hands are used? Oh, wait...those are weapons too! Maybe it's just people that cause violence, what do you think?

I'm not sure some of you understand sarcasm, I am a huge gun rights advocate. I wrote this to show that people are the problem, not guns.

Pau- Semi-automatic shotguns and pistols are also used in the Olympics, not just single shot .22s.

You don't need a gun to kill folks. Knives, baseball bats, bare hands, cars, crappy surgeons.. loads of ways to off people without firing a single shot.

People are murdered in countries where the citizenry isn't allowed guns.

All else fails, there's always a big rock that'll do the job.

Just as most of you said, gun are not evil. It is by judgment of the gun owner to use it as it was intended. there is no reason for guns to be banned. You can count on it that the moment they start banning guns the general populace will be unarmed and the not-so-law abiding people of this nation will still find guns and weapons. Granted not so easy, but at least now i know that with the proper permits i can conceal carry my "boom stick" and no body would know, this kind of makes criminals second guess committing the crime. cops have rules of engagement, I DON'T. If someone were to try to commit a crime and i have the opportunity to stop it right then and there, i will. I will NEVER give up my right to bear arms.

Geese this came out of nowhere! The US Supreme Court has already decided that the way some read the constitution is incorrect and that you have a right to possess a firearm. Anyone who thinks differntly needs to visit the ruling

That they are used to commit violent things is not material as man has always concocted means to use weapons against other people!

The Roman legion had no firearms, nor did the Crusades though both seemed pretty good at killing!

Although the Supreme Court has never definitively stated whether the right to bear arms is individual or collective, case law strongly indicates that the Court favors the notion of a collective right. This is not to say that all courts have followed such an interpretation of the second amendment. However "no fewer than twenty-one decisions by the courts of our states have recognized an individual right to keep and bear arms, and a majority of these have not only recognized the right but invalidated laws or regulations which abridged it."Furthermore, at least one federal appellate court has agreed that the second amendment stands for the individual's right to keep and bear arms.

Guns are tools. They can be used for anything from sport to protection to murder.
Anything can be used as a weapon, guns are just more effective.

I don't think guns are quite as evil as you described. I don't think people have a thing against guns as much as they do against those who use them wrong. I mean as in crimes and preventable accidents. I don't think there is anything wrong with having a gun but we don't need semiautomatics and guns that can penatrate bullit proof vests.

I'm all for banning everything but competition single-shot fire arms. You make an excellent point.

Hard to commit armed robbery with a marksman's rifle or even an archer's bow and arrow.

Brilliant point you raised.
