I'm looking for something generic (edgy generic) - and the only messenger bags I can ever find are in JC Penneys or Kohls, and they've all got brand names (i.e., Mudd, LEI) all over them... I want something plain. I always see people on campus with nice messenger bags, and I have no idea where they get them from, so yeah, I'm hoping you can help me out.

I am a fan of messenger bags. I've always used one since elementary school. I buy mine at several different places such as: Hot Topic [They have some plain black ones there that have an sort of edgy look to them and some are more designed.] Banana Republic has cute ones too from plain solid colors to more fancier ones. You could also try the brand Roxy or LL Bean. Hope I help at least a little =]

Honestly, If you are buying a messenger bag and want it to last and look awesome check out Timbuk2.com you can buy their premade bags, but spend the extra change and customize your own. I have had mine for 12 years now, it still looks great and I use it every single day of the week. People are always commenting on how cool it looks and are amazed that it is 12 years old. I think their bags run about $100 right now, but it is well worth it.
The company started like 20 years ago specifically making bags for actual bike messengers in SanFran.

Abercrombie has really nice ones, and for only 20 dollars! They are plain and really cute! I use mine for school and I put 3 binders, 4 folders and lots ofother junk in there! Abercrombie is a great choice! And don't think it it too much, it is only 20 dollars and I have had mine for over 2 years. They are really nice quality and I'm sure you'll get ALOT of complimenst on it! I know I have!

try ebay or those small shop/boutiques ...... don't go on big malls as they all have brand names so try the small stores
