It depends. Everyone knows about Tisch of NYU, Julliard, Yale and Howard. Those are considered the Harvard's of Acting. But I actually like schools that put you in the enviornment that you want to work in, which means you're going to have to go to LA if you strictly want to do film, or Chicago and New York if you want to both theatre and film. I'm going to Columbia College Chicago which is a private media and performing arts school in downtown Chicago. It's got a bunch of connections and all of their faculty are working professionals in the business, not to mention they host many classes and seminars on show business with those who are the ones in charge in the business...All in all, you have to pick a school where you feel comfortable, see yourself living there, and growing as an actor.

Okay, so you think you are interested in acting!! Congratulations!!
I will honestly say that acting, even in college, is very difficult. I would try a community college first.
Community college can get you your AFA without paying a lot of money, and it gives you the chance to see if working in the theatre is really what you want to do.
Also, going to any type of college doesn't guarantee that you will be cast in any plays. That is sad, but I would get the experience first before applying.
But, if a community college is not what you want, Yale, Brown, Emerson, Boston University, and Salem State all have excellent theatre programs.
I wish you all the best!!!

I have an MFA in acting, and, trust me, the best education you can get doesn't come from a college. Go right to work, bust your ***, audition a bunch, and do what you want to do. Going to college (especially grad school) for the arts is a waste of good time and money. A few decent actors went to Yale (Sigourney Weaver, Jodi Foster, etc.) but that doesn't mean anything. Most great actors worked their way to the top through professional drive and "talent".

The standard answer would be Yale for a whole host of reasons but the question is what is right for you and what your grades and talent will allow for and your financial situation. It should be a League of Professional Theater Training Schools school with an attendant LORT B repertory theater house to garner some experience. Ask your teachers for advice and apply to those that interest you and good luck.

I would suggest that before you look at specific schools you narrow down more of what you are looking for and then narrow the school search by that. Are you interested in musical theatre, a movement based program, a strong vocal program, mime, classical, contemporary, etc....that will help you find more of what you will enjoy. The name of a school can be helpful at times but it doesn't necessarily mean the best education all the time

That depends, if you want to go to a four year university then Yale is the best but NYU and ISU are really good to. But if your more interested in an art school then the best is of course Juilliard.

Just do not get into anyone that is being suggested by someone, get at least fifty colleges from the website, then short list ten from that and again short list five from that and check personally those by meeting the persons who had experience from those and select the best, to get the best!!!!!!!!!!

Consider Wesleyan of Middletown, CT. It is a great school, and they are well known for performing arts. Beware, there are some "eccentrics" that attend Wesleyan, but it is a good school.
