When its time to pay the bill/check, do you split the bill to exactly what you owe or throw in a reasonable amount even if it might be more?

I really don't like the embarassing moments of "let's study the bill so each and everyone of us pays the right amount to the penny".
I find it insulting and childish so usually, I go out with friends, who don't have those problems and we all, give evenly pitching more for the tip and good service that we have received.
Then again, if we have to go back to that restaurant, the waiter will be waiting for us with a smile.

You can do seperate checks . That way each of you gets a bill for what you had , or you can just split the bill.
If you all had about the same then its quicker just to split it to nearest whole dollar. Leave the extra as a tip.

I pay what I owe and throw in another amount for the tip. I once went to dinner with my roommate who ordered a meal that cost more than everyone's and also got a take out item. She then had the nerve to be upset, when no one agreed to have the bill split evenly amongst us, rather than to simply pay for what we each ordered. There were five of us. Three of us proceeded to ignore her ensuing insipid rant and left it up to her and her friend to cover the difference.

If I invited them then I usually pick up the tab, but if not and it was just a spur of the moment or group thing, then we each pay for our own and split the tip.

We usually get seperate bills. Sometimes we take turns footing the bill. Depends on wich group of friends Im with!

we take turns paying the bill for one another-check the bill ,and then sometimes everyone pays their own and we all tip the waitress or waitor really special if we got good service , it's just according.

We split it based on how much everyone's meal costs plus tip.
