I didn't tell my mom at first. I was embarassed! Here are some tips on how to tell her:
1. When she is busy just tell her and say i just thought you should know i got my period
2. Tell her in the car
3. Call her! I did this and it was much less embarassing. Just call her when she is out and act like you just got your period. Say : Mom i just got my period
Also you need to tell her because she can buy more stuff for you. You should ask her about tampons. Go to www.beinggirl.com

Do you know how many mothers got their periods for the first time?
ALL OF THEM!! Your Mom, grandma, auntie, older sister, cousin, best friend's Mom............they all get them. They all had to figure this one out.
Talking about it the first time is kinda wierd, but, women get them every month for about 40 years........that's 480 periods in a lifetime per woman! At some point, we all talk about it.
If you can't talk to your Mom, ask your aunt, grandma or best friend's older sister. Someone you feel more comfortable with.
There are instructions on how to use a tampon in every box. Choose Tampex junior, or a light-day one. There is also something out there for athletes called Instead. It protects you for 48 hours.
You get your period about every 28 to 30 days. So count from the first day of bleeding of your last period, and that will be about when you will get it next.
And relax! You have 479 periods to go!

Yes, you could get it again. It depends on your cycle. A lot of girls are regular in the beginning so don't rely on that assumption. The best thing would be talking to your mom, buying a few different brands of tampons, so you find which works best for you... and enjoy Hawaii if you get your period or not. All of us women have to do the beach and period thing sometime in our lives! :)

definatley talk to your mum. If you are worried about swimming etc. try using tampons (they may hurt a little tiny bit at first and they may take afew attempts to get them in right but it's well worth it). Also if you're really desperate you could go see your doctor about going on a birth control pill (not just for the birth control side of things), they can reduce period pain, make your flow lighter and some types of pill can be used once in a while to make you miss out a period (like for when you go on holiday).

it's hard to know if you will get it while you are there. to be safe you should tell your mom and bring some tampons with you just in case so you can still swim if you get it. try tampax pearl tampons- the applicator is smooth plastic which makes it easier to insert especially since it will be your first time having one that is easy to put it will be good. if you start to get cramps or feel bloated or tired a few days before it could be a sign that your period will come so be prepared for it.
