I would be most happy if people could suggest ideas and sites for me to look at.

^The have some breeds listed under "breeders" .. so you can check that out too. Just remember to make sure they are reputable.

^I LOVE this page. It has ALL kinds of info on training and caring for your pup!
(ie: House training, crate training, chewing, biting, feeding .. the list goes on!) It will really help you prepare/know what to buy and look for when you decide to get your pup!

Good luck! & Hope this helped!

I understand. I have 2 chiahuahuas that cannot go outside. I tried the "dog" cat box - they hated it and wouldn't use it. Then I tried the housebreaking 'puppy pads' - they worked, but were too expensive to use long term.

Here's how I handled it successfully. I found a place in my home where I could place a beach towel (you can cut the seam of a large garbage bag to put under it) and they took to it immediately. Everyday I take it outside and shake the solid waste from it and I wash it weekly. I've asked and neither I nor anyone else have noticed any odor from this method.

Of course this will only work for small dogs - large dogs would produce too much waste to keep up with and would 'pee' a lot more, so you'd have a soaking problem.

Good luck,

Jo M

if you want a puppy to be indoors that is not a very good idea, first of all they have very small bladders & cannot be alone for to long, secondly they must go out for a LONG walk if they HAVE TO be in this long, at least 30 mins preferably longer...

and for recommending a dog I would reccomend a very relaxed gentle dog...(sometimes the bigger dos are the more relaxed than the smaller ones, I know from experience)

Try not to get a very hyper dog that needs lots of walks b/c then the dog will not be happy as if he got to a home where he could of gotten more/longer walks.

well you can keep a dog inside, but a smaller dog would be better if you did that. a small dog can sometimes be trained to use a cat box, or a litter box. but a big dog can't. Or, if you would rather have a big dog, you would just have to come home durring the day [[if you were somewhere like work or school]] and let him outside to use the bathroom.

i think that a terrier or some type of small dog would work unless of course, you would like a lab and wouldnt mind that it sheds. i would look at adopt a stray.com and humanesociety.com
