I'm interested in becoming an NFL scout. While I am a huge football fan, I have not played or coached (yet). In Pro Football Weekly's draft guide there is an article on the relationships between scouts and coaches in terms of evaluating talent. In the article it says that some scouts are being hired right out of school, where other teams have veteran talent-evaluators. What is the process to become an NFL scout and what kind of qualifications are required?

In response to an answer I have received, the article in Pro Football Weekly's Draft Guide also mentions that most of the younger scouts have no experience as players or coaches. While experience as a player and/or coach would certainly help benefit in the evaluation process it does not guarantee success in this field, nor does not having this experience guarantee failure.

You have'nt even played football? You're kidding right? Maybe you're setting your sights too high. Every team needs a towel boy, start there.
