Absolutely! He does anything that the team needs him to do. He's the reason why the Lakers were and are making the playoff this year. If you put a great shooting guard, but not as good as Kobe like Michael Redd the Lakers would be far from making the playoff, but if you substitute Steve Nash with Deron Williams in the suns or Rasheed Wallace for Dirk in the Mavs I'm positive that those two teams still would make it to the playoff whithout a doubt, therefore Kobe is the MVP!.

Kobe is definitely MVP material. He has been for a while now. Will he win this year. Well the he has been playing this week with 4 straight 50 point performances. I think he is making a great late season push for MVP.

Material yes this years MVP not even close! He needs to learn how to pass and work the offense before that hes too sellfish I think everyone knows that even Laker fans know that! It was a great tradition "Laker show" know its give me the ball because I have more popularity. If Mvps were given for popularity then he would get it and Im sure he will someday but he doesnt deserve it as he still needs some class! Kobe is a great player but not this years NBA MVP not even close!! His FG% is the lowest compared to all the great players in the leage at 46% and thats a career high for him. In the 2004-2005 season he shot 43% you call that a MVP and he doesnt pass or run the offense he just shots the ball. I bet if half the players on the Lakers shot 40 shots a game they would be scoring 60pts a game. The guy is just marketing himself I would hate to be on his team thats just not basketball!!

kobe is mvp material, but he isnt going to win it this year. it will be either nash or nowitzki. kobe could win the mvp award if he was able to be as dominant as a scorer as he has been recently without losing the team player mentality he had in the beginning of this season. the problem is that he hasnt shown the ability to do both at the same time yet in his career. still though he will always have the potential, time will tell if he ever realizes it.

MVP type material? Absolutely. Will he get the MVP this year? No. I love Kobe and the Lakers but as long as the Lakers still have Kwame brown and Sasha Vujacic on the team and on the floor, they won't get too far and I think a player's team record has alot more to do with he MVP decision then we as fans think. Toss up Dirk or Nash for MVP. I think Nash again.

Are you crazy, Kobe is only the best player in the world and our generation of course he warrants MVP. The Lakers was on the verge of getting into the top four spots this season before injuries depleted an already less talent lustered team. Even so they are still in good shape to upset any team they play against in the play offs. Absolutely he just doesn't deserve it he is no matter what the pethetic haters say.

No Kobe is not mvp type material because he is not a good team player

Yes, he is MVP material. But the Lakers will probably have to do better for him to be a top contender. Right now, they are barely a playoff team, and that hurts his chances.

I would say he wins it in the next two years though, provided the Lakers keep getting better.

He deff should be, but because his team doesnt have that great of a chance of winning the championship he wont be. An mvp should beable to carry his team into the playoffs. His problem is that he's pretty much the team. He doesnt have anyone else to help him out. If he had supporting players to help him out night after night, then he would be a deff choice. The guy is incredible.
