i recently downloaded 10 songs on iTunes.
when i plugged in my iPod, it said "Updating iPod "
but i was surprised to see that it was updating about 50% (193 songs) of my songs.

i didnt make any changes to those songs that were being updated.

why do you think this is happening ?

dummy, you set the ipod to automatically sync from itunes to ipod. that erases the songs that aren't on itunes from your ipod. so if you plug your ipod into someone else's computer, all your songs will be erased.

1. go to ipod settings thingy
2. under the SUMMARY tab, check the box that says manually manage music and videos
3. then click APPLY

from now on, you have to drag each new song from itunes into the ipod. this should be relatively easy if you have a finger. hehhehe.. :-D

Well, I have an iPod too and when ever you are putting in new songs it will start to dowload every song you have even if you didn't purchase that song today. You could have purchased the song 2 months ago. So it basicly re-dowloads all the songs you had before and the ones you just got.

this happens so ur iPod knows that u still want those songs. for example, if u deleted a song, it would take it off of ur iPod since its not on ur computer anymore. once, i accidentally deleted my whole playlist, and i plugged in my iPod hoping it would put the songs back on the computer, but instead it took everything off! so it is re-downlading everything so it all stays on.

Is it possible you changed the EQ settings on these songs? Or your star rating? Or even just having listened to them - iTunes keeps track of all these settings and updates them when syncing.

this happens automatically because the settings on your ipod are set to update eachtime plugged in. you need to click on your ipod if you use itunes, and find the set up, and click, the potion to choocse manually. this will help you

Maybe there is something that Itunes did with the song. Or something changed or maybe it's refreshing the songs.
