Just make sure you do not give up and have all the paper work next time. Join another competition that is similar and make sure you give it your all put all that energy you have to be upset into training yourself for the next competition. You will win you seem to be a go getter. Good Luck!

A quiet dark place would be conducive to relaxation. Soak in the tub for an hour; dim the lights (or burn candles) and just let go of the adrenalin build-up. If some music would help, do it but keep it really low (volume).
BTW, studying should be done on a regular basis...the same thing goes for your physical training...one should not lag behind the other. Work on your time management, girl.

Well, in the short term, breathing exercises definitely help. Sounds absurd, but they actually do.
If you're in a place where you can lie down, do it, otherwise just do it wherever you happen to be. Take slow, deep breaths (hold them for a second), and count them.
Check out the mp3 links at http://forms.uhs.wisc.edu/relaxation.php
In the long term, as another person has said, work on your time management skills. Not because they're bad, but because you will feel better if you make progress in your life.

Try meditation or focusing on chanting one word like OM. Maybe set some goals for yourself for the short-term - 3 months or 6 months and then long-term goals - 1 or 2 years.

I say, try again when you're ready. It is a dissapointment but you can always move on and try again. Later, it won't feel like the end of the world.
