A bloke at our works, a tyre warehouse.
Was caught in the toilet block masturbating..! Yeah, I know, at work?
Didn't come in for a fortnight blaming being too embarrassed to attend.
When we finally got the nod he was coming back, his mrs tipped us off. We gathered at the gates and applauded him in to work, must have been 40 of us.
We now call him Biff.
Biffing being a great slang word for masturbating.

There was a log book entry hely by the service delivery centre for the former WAGN railway... It stated that, while attending to a small plot of grass at the North end of Hitchin station Downside platform (between the paltform and the drivers depot), the staff member inadvertantly stepped forward onto a rake that he had placed on the ground while picking up litter, and the rake had risen sharply and struck him in the eye.
I got 3 days off.

I am a manager of a restaurant, the best excuse I have had so far was on boxing day last year, a waitress rang in sick because she had apparently seen a ghost and the ghost had put credit on her phone so she could ring in sick, she is not the sharpest knife in the drawer any way but she was really distressed, I could not do any thing about it because I believed her ( only because I know she really thought that it had happened ), plus she did end up doing her shift because I promised her she would be safer at work, and she came in.

a stranger stole my underwear
my boss said if you can tell me one I havent heard before Ill pay you the time missed and take you out to lunch ,so I told him
It was true, i used a piblic laundry late on a sat..the store where I can buy underwear lane Bryant was closed until Mon 10 am i went downtown bought underwear and dressed there ; then arrived 11 am at a 9am start job
It was 1968 ; not acceptable at that time to get to work in pants which is what I had on me. I had to buy a bra and girdle with garters and slip to get ready for work with nylons and a dress.

My best mate and I used to work for a department store and we went out one evening and were so hungover the next day we couldn't possibly go into work - my mate rang up and said that we had eaten crab sticks that had been out of the freezer too long and both had terrible sickness, quite why she had to go into so much details is a mystery, but the boss didn't believe us and we both had a verbal warning!

my husband's employee used this excuse. He was in the ICU after a car accident. this was a week after he asked for a leave of absence of which was denied. HE CALLED FROM HIS BED IN ICU!! then a few days later some cops came to the job looking for him. When my husband told them he was supposed to be in ICU, the cops said he looked just fine the day before. the employee actually thought he had a lawsuit when he was fired.

"Flu-like symptoms" is the favourite fake sickie excuse because there are so many of them and you aren't actually saying you're ill.
I've heard people that called into work and say they couldn't come in because they had a hangover - that must take guts!

I am very proud and lightly embarrassed to say that I have never ever pulled a sickie...but that is more to do with the fact that I do a job where there is absolutely no one who could cover for me than my sense of duty!
why on earth did I get a thumbs down...what could possibly have upset anyone that much that they felt compelled to do that.how very strange and sad
