Get to know your surroundings well, find the interesting features of the town and country where you are. Then contact travel agencies to let them know you are familiar with Italy and can lead tours like the locals. Also, a course in Italian will help (try Berlitz, and many others) even if you just study at home. Practice by talking to neighbors or people you meet at cafes, etc. They will help you learn Italian faster. Watching local TV also helps at lot. Another thing you can do is write stories for travel magazines or websites.
Or you could begin writing short stories and novels. Maybe you could find a school where you can teach English. Just keep getting out of the house, you will figure out what to do and feel better soon.
