I returning to the workforce after being unemployed since 2001....?

Question

i have been unemployed since 2001....i have returned to school and graduate since and i am currently in school.....but my question is what should i put on my resume under experience since i havent worked since 2001? current i am a independent avon representative...so i am gaining a source of income.....should i put that i have no work experience ....that i have been concentrating on school and working from home? Or what should i say? I know that your resume should hold up to so many years ..at this point im confused of what to put down...is there anyone that can help me out?

You're a sales representative and you do have work experience, but you can also use the skills that you have learned at school ie working in a group or team, research skills, working with people from different backgrounds and gaining an experience of different types of people. You can also talk about attendance and punctuality for classes if you have good attendance etc.

Talk about skills rather than experience and what you have because a lot of what you have been doing will be transferrable.

Just be honest and be positive on whatever experience you gain via school and sales for Avon. The experience of getting thru tough time counts and determination to go back to school is a big plus.
