Why do people judge people they dont even know?

This is a question that is always on my mind. I am Jewish, and very proud to be Jewish, but people have said very rude things to me about my religion (like that i am going to burn in hell because i dont believe in Jesus) and i just dont understand how people can be so ignorant and cruel. I guess I'm wondering why some people don't try to get to know a person, they simply prejudge by some silly prejudice.
I would love to hear people's opinions on this.

I want to say that I am sorry that people have told you that you are going to burn in hell and other rude comments. Ignorance and being uneducated can be a cause for people to say things like this. People are unfortunately raised by parents that sometimes are judgemental and prejudiced. I think that all of us can overcome this obstacle as we mature if we want. We may be raised to think a certain way, like judging others for their race, color, creed, religious preferences, sex, but the truth is once we are at a certain age, we have the intelligence and right to believe the RIGHT things. You are obviously a smart,caring person and you have a right to be proud of who you are. Feel sorry for that person that hasn't attained the level of maturity or intelligence that is needed. Also, pray for them and for strength in dealing with them. Please take care of yourself and have a great day, from a friend!

Like I always say,That is The American way,This country was built on one race being mean to another race it has gone on for generations the only way to stop it is by educating the young children that this type of behavior won't get you anywhere, and that it is wrong to hate someone because of their skin tone or religious beliefs.

Because they think that they can accurately judge somebody based off the fact that they THINK that the particular group is all the same probably because the majority of the people they have came across actually fit the sterotype...

People make judgements based on what they know!! If they don't understand, lots of people; instead of trying to find out about being Jewish......... they make ignorant statements.

Simply, how can we judge what we don't know?? As I do not know about being Jewish. How can I judge you or anyone else????

First of all, *hugg.* I think that's ridiculous; the best thing you can do is, unfortunately, turn the other cheek. I also fall into a minority group (I'm queer), and I've been turned down for more than one job simply because of my sexual orientation.

those kind of people are shallow and superficial. they think what they see outside is what they see inside but theyre completely wrong. outside is just a way of describing what you are but not what's your inner thoughts as a person. dont mind them as long as you have a nice soul then God will give you more blessings and lucks...

some people listen to what other people say and not use there own judgment,,as the other people might not like that person for some reason
