I think pets, cats and dogs, have selective hearing. They care about the words walk, belly rub, food and bath, that ones usually a negative response.

Oh i think they care its the way they look up into your eyes and rest their head on your lap they wouldn`t bother to do that if they didn't care when your talking to them

My cat actually talks back to me. We have some sort of understanding. It is very weird and it doesn't last very long, but we communicate.
Does he care.....of course he does.

No he really cares like when our last cat who was poisend and we took him to the vets and i was talking to him i really felt he knew what i was saying to him now you made me cry

He's so rude when I'm talking to him, he just runs away and brings his toy back as if I'm supposed to play with him. Has he ever thought maybe I just wanted to talk?!
