I will be travelling to Chicago in April. Can somebody suggest some good hotels(in terms of price and location) to stay there? Also I would like to know if there is any need to rent a car for commute in the city? I will be going to Midway Airport and returning from O'Hare International Airport. It would be easier to decide for me is hotel is easily accessible by train or bus from Airports.

Thanks in advance.

unless you have to go to the suburbs for travel, don't rent a car....it will cost you $ to rent it and more $ to park it at most down town hotels. Much cheaper to take cabs, subway or walk around the city.

it is easy to get from Midway to downtown via the Orange line subway....20 minutes for $2....just follow the signs at Midway to the CTA / rapid transit....you can also take the Blue line subway to OHare for $2 as well...takes about 40 minutes....takes you right to the airport...no transfers or confusion...

hotel rooms are expensive at decent places. I recommend you check out hotels.com or orbitz.com for comparative prices with the least amount of work. Unless you have to do your trip on the cheap, avoid the 1 or 2 star places.

The HardRock Hotel and the new W hotels look cool if you can afford them...check them out at hotels.com first re comparative prices.

Chicago is a grid system; hotels in the loop / downtown would range from 500 south to 300 north and from 200 east to 300 or so west....stick to that area if you want to be in the business district.

Anything on Michigan Avenue from 500 south to 1000 north is fine but also expensive

Good names for hotels would be Hyatt, Hilton, Westin, but again, check them out on Hotels.com

good luck...and don't rent that car....spend it instead on a nicer room or a great meal....Chicago has wonderful restaurants....get to Greek Town .... Adams and Halsted...while you are here.

The best thing to do is to search on Expedia or HotWire....
you can find very reasonable prices for nice hotels in downtown Chicago.
