As slang, the word was popularized by jazz musicians, so it has hung on to some of those early associations. It was also used as code among drug users to denote that someone wasn't an undercover narc or informant.
What makes someone cool depends on who you ask. It's a subjective word, but I guess it typically conjures up someone with an air of aloof hipness and unshowy confidence... someone with an attitude and style that runs slightly counter to the prevailing culture. Which is why it's a constantly changing definition. Once something is subsumed by the mainstream, it's no longer considered "cool".

A cool person is one who is different.. and not in the norm.. if you can find that same personality in some one else.. then he or she is not cool..

they can express emotions, they can see lies in other people easily..... because they are honest about themselves.... they are usually artists or musicians,,,
otherwise some people can be rich and prideful to be cool...
