Hmmm....try to pick it up little by little. Like, for example, if you put some food down in its cage but it's somewhere else in the cage, gently pet it then pick it up just enough that its feet are barely above the ground. Try to do this any time you can but when your hamster stops biting you when you pick him up for food, then try to kick it up a notch, like picking it up a little higher to its wheel or something. Just an idea, but I hope it works!

I had the same problem. I was too afraid to pick up my hampster and everyday i didnt pick him up he liked me less. Comunication is Key to a relationship. You just need to take baby steps. If you want you can wear gardening gloves the first few times you pick him up. As he gets used to you, you can stop wearing the gloves and he'll be more used to you so he probibly wont bite you.

Try Pick him up best when he has stopped moving by slowly moving hand down to the back of the neck, grabbing around neck with thumb and forefinger, this action ofpicking them up renders them defenceless

hampsters like all animals can since when you are afraid. that inturn tells them that it might not be safe to let you pick it up. they are afraid that you might hurt them. start with petting it and giving it little treats. if you get it out put it on your bed and make sure it cant fall off and play with it. it will learn that you can be trusted. my daughter has two ferrets that are always biting her cause she is scared of them but i can go in and pick them up with no trouble

hamsters are small and they have small teeth. unless you avrigate it alot, it's bite will only feel like a tickle. try to get it onto a peice of newspaper and then pick it up. or if you want let him sniff your hand then pick him up when he's watching.

He can tell you are afraid. Swallow your fear and just reach in and pick him up firmly but gently. Even if he bites you, it isn't going to be a big deal.
