He lied under oath to Congress when asked about whether the VP's office was involved in leaking the name of Valerie Plame. The theory goes that the VP's office did this to discredit her husband, former ambassador Joe Wilson, who had been sent on a trip to Niger to search for evidence that they had sold radioactive materials to Saddam Hussein.
Scooter Libby is considred by many to be a sacrificial lamb to cover up the extent of the falsehoods told in order to get this country into war with Iraq.
