I've asked a guy if he has a problem with lying and he said he does, that he is not a compulsive one but that when he tells something he avoids the part that would sound bad, which would mean he is a liar. Am I right?

He sounds more honest than he (or you) gives himself credit for - which makes him a "keeper"!

How important is it to you that you're right? Is it really more important than keeping the friendship of someone who is so honest about himself?

I would rather tell it like it is and get it over with myself good or bad . A lie is a lie no matter how you look at it . I can see lying if your life depended on it but that little white lie may turn into a big O fat lie by the time it gets around even if you didn't intend it to . Yes a lie is a lie and your not lying

He is evasive - not a liar. Cut him some slack. At least he's aware and maybe he won't do it now that YOU are aware and can call him out on it. Ask questions when he is talking to get more details out of him. It's a personality quirk - get him into sales! :)
