I've read the reviews on runescape and it doesn't sound all that fun, I tried endless online and almost cut my wrists. What's a good game preferably rpg or action rpg style that I can download off the internet for free and play without a monthly perscription?

If you don't care about graphics, try playing a MUD. A MUD is a text-based roleplaying game where people log in and roleplay with each other in a virtual world.

Try Guild Wars. I heard its free. I don't know what runescape is but Guild Wars is a MMORPG set in a fantasy world.
