It really doesn't have to be anything fancy. The most important part is to discuss and practice this plan with the rest of your family and agree on a safe meeting place outside.

I am glad you have a desire to do this, it's an important part of home fire safety along with making sure you have smoke detectors newer than 10 years old with fresh batteries.
