I think the US will win the World Cup before anybody in their region does (Mexico, Canada, Central America, superfluous island nations). It's possible for the US to win the WC one day, but they have to start with better managing and encouraging their top players to move abroad. For example, there is no reason Landon Donovan should be playing in the MLS. The German league was not suitable to his style of play, but he would thrive in the Premiership (maybe) or La Liga (especially so because the game is more fluid there). They have also been unlucky with technically gifted players. Reyna had suffered so many injuries and Tab Ramos before him even more. John O'Brien who was possibly the most technically gifted player around his age hasn't been able to maintain fitness for years. Brian McBride didn't leave the US until it was too late and he's been handling defenders solidly in the Premiership. Beasley should have never left PSV because the system there suited him so well. Replacing Arjen Robben at his natural position was a dream. Moving to Man City was a disaster. The US has talent, they just need to have a little bit of luck and adopt different methods of development. The MLS is hindering a lot of players from moves abroad. Just look at Eddie Johnson. He could play abroad if he wanted to, but his move was stalled and he then suffered a severe dip in form most likely a combination of a loss of passion and interest.

Yes, for sure. They were in the quarterfinals already the cup before last, and were only narrowly eliminated by Germany (don't get me started on the refs). Anyway, yes, yes, and yes---no country on Earth where soccer is growing and getting better like the US.

PS--you Euros and Mexicans go ahead and give me all the thumbs down you want, I don't really mind.

its possible but its not happening anytime soon. no way in 2010, 2014, or 2018. but they need to develop their league mls and get a greater draw from the rest of the worlds best players before soccer can take off in the US. they also have to keep their players, losing Rossi to italy was HUGE he will be a star in 5 years.
