YES!!! I was in a similar situation in high school, but when I went to college, things got much better.
There was a whole new world of people in college, and everyone got there at the same level. Since no one knew anyone else, there was a chance to reinvent myself as who you wanted to be, not as the people I had known since elementary school saw me.
It's also important to pick a school that fits you. If you are a serious studier and you go to a party school, there will still be people like you there, but you're more likely to find your niche in a school that syncs up wtih what you want to get out of it. Yes, there will always be cliques and the opportunity for drama, but in a large university, you have more freedom to stay clear of it and go your own way.
Another way in which college is much better is that you have more freedom in terms of the classes you are allowed to take. High school is designed to expose you t oa broad range of subjects, while in college you can specialize.
Just hang in there, things do get much better.

I am a junior in college. My high school was really big so cliques were almost non existant compared to many other high schools. However, my middle school was different so I understand where you are coming from. As for college I would say it all depends ex: How many people go there? I go to a smaller state school and I am in a sorority so yes, there are still cliques. Many state schools have what they call "the machine" which is the Greek System because it basically controls a lot of activities and the way of life on the campus. College is definitely VERY different from high school- people grow up...a little bit at least. But, everywhere you go be prepared to face cattiness, drama, and immaturity- whther its school, your job, your close knit group of friends. Thats just life!

College is a great place to really get in tune with yourself. In high school you never really get a chance to be yourself but in college you are basically free to be you in ever way. Even though college does give one more opportunity for self exploration no matter where you go there always be cliques, cattiness, and definately plenty of drama. My solution to that is just be yourself and forget about everybody else...

Yep...it is. There is going to be a wider range of age groups there, so the "cliques" don't matter. People only get catty when someone continually disturbs the class.
Drama? Sure, if your in the acting arena...otherwise, these people PAY to go to school. If someone is acting like it is anything else, call them out on it and sway far-far away from them.
I love college life and HATED high school with a passion. Two vastly different species.
GOOD LUCK!

From my experiences, it is a whole lot better than high school, even though you do still have the cliques, etc but it is not as bad as high school. But at least in college you don't have to deal with them if you don't want to. Of course your experience will depend on what college you go to.

Usually working 3 or more jobs. It was demanding but more than worth it...

I myself am looking forward to college because there is more freedom available. Going to college is starting your life of independence. Depending on if you live in a dorm or an apartment rather than living from home, many opportunities will lie ahead of you. So, to me I think that college will be 100% better than high school.

Its a whole world apart. The people who held such a high staus in highschool will mean nothing in a college environment. People of all ages and maturity levels attend college.
I'm sure you'll like it much better. You'll develop a better sense of self and aquire friendships out of mutual interests instead of cliques.

For the most part it is. More people, more diversity, and overall a higher level of maturity. (of course, there are @ssholes everywhere!) Also, you don't have the structure of high school, like fixed hours, and class requirements (you of course have some requirments in college, but most are related to a major that you choose.) Good luck!

It depends what kind of college you choose. Colleges that are heavily into athletics and Greek life can be every bit as cliquey as high school. Visit the schools first and choose carefully; I'm sure you'll find a place that suits your tastes more than high school did.
