Chamberlain opener electronics died. A friend had a Liftmaster opener with the main nylon gear all chewed up. I put the gear from the Chamberlain into the Liftmaster. They are interchangeable. Opener does not close because it needs to see the safety eyes to trigger it to close. I don't have any because the Chamberlain didn't require them. Is there a way to bypass the Liftmaster to fool it into thinking the eyes are inplace and lined up????

I think you can put a jumper wire to complete the circuit, that's all the eyes do, they are switches, you just have to figure out if it's an open or closed switch and jumper it to do what the switch would do. Of course those eyes are there for safety reasons so if you bypass it, then it won't stop before closing the door on you dog or car. Maybe you should just get a new one, there not that expensive and they have all the safety stuff in tact.

There is absolutely no way around having the safety sensors connected to the opener and able to see each other. Running a jumper wire between the two terminals to "simulate" the sensors being there will not work. The overhead opener's computer board needs to have the proper kind of electronic signal constantly sent by the sensors in order to close the door. By law, all openers today must be manufactured this way. Unfortunately, your friend is going to need them - about $35 (with shipping) from the manufacturer. They're not available through a retail store, but you may be able to by them over the counter through a local garage door company. Check the "Locate an authorized dealer" link on the www.liftmaster.com homepage, or call (800) 528-9131 (Monday - Saturday) to place an order with the manufacturer.

Door openers with electric eyes are quite complex. I doubt that you will be able to bypass the safety feature.
