They're not. They can't happily greet you at the door acting like they haven't seen you in a week, instantly bringing a smile to your face. You can't pet them. You can't cuddle them. They die sooner (most of the time). The don't make any noise, so they are of no company. So, um.. fish aren't better than dogs. Sorry.

Fish never get the carpet muddy.
Fish food is infinately less expensive.
Fish don't want chew toys, or want to use you and your stuff as a chew toy.
Never have to let the fish out to potty.
Fish don't need periodic baths.
No one will every complain to you that your fish crapped in their yard.
Only have to water a fish once or twice a month.
Fish won't slobber on your car window.
Fish don't shed.
Not too many people fear fish or have allergic reactions to them.
Fish don't require rabies shots or any other vaccination
Fish don't need any flea preventatives
Fish will never be teased by the neighbor kid.
Fish will never eat the idiot neghbor kid.
Fish don't go into season bleeding all over th house.
Fish don't "mark" their territory.
Fish don't care if you give them any attention what so ever.
Fish don't need a fenced in yard.
Fish don't require potty training.
Fish won't leave anything in the yard for you to step in when mowing.
Fish won't wake you or the neighbors up at night.

Fish are better than dogs because...
1) When you go away for a few days, whoever you want to take care of your fish will only have to feed it once a day.
2) Easy to take care of
3) Cleaning there bowl is easier than cleaning up dog poop

who says they are?
you have to clean the fish tank/you have to clean up poop
you have to feed the fish daily/also dogs
you can enjoy watching fish....do whatever they do..../you enjoy watching your dog play.
but you cannot play with your fish as you can your dog.
a fish can never snuggle with you or follow you around the house.
he can never look at you with "that look" because they don't really even know you're there. but your dog does.
a fish won't wait by the door when you leave and greets you when you come home.

cats eat fish,dogs dont. also no loud barking ,no shedding in the house, and no crap to pick up.
